Microsoft Consumer Chief Marketing Officer Yusuf Mehdi is leaving the company after 35 years. He has been in this role since 2023 and will stay on to help reimagine Windows for the agentic era, grow Microsoft 365 services, and bring the One Copilot vision to life.

Mehdi's departure hints at significant changes coming to the Windows operating system, which will likely be embedded with artificial intelligence (AI) and agentic services. When asked about the future of Windows, a Microsoft spokesperson replied that they needed time to respond internally.

This is not an isolated incident - several senior Microsoft executives have departed recently, including Rajesh Jha, who oversees the Windows and Office product groups, and Charlie Bell, who led Microsoft's 10,000-person security division earlier this year. Mehdi feels privileged to have been part of significant technological shifts in his career.
