Microsoft Confirms Windows 11 Audio Bug Affects Legacy Apps and Games
Microsoft has confirmed an audio bug in its Windows 11 operating system, specifically affecting apps that rely on built-in AC-3 (Dolby Digital) decoding.
The issue affects Windows 11 versions 24H2, 25H2, and 26H2, causing affected software to crash or fail to launch when attempting to play media with AC-3 audio.
According to Microsoft, the problem primarily affects legacy applications, media tools, and games that rely directly on Dolby Digital decoding components built into Windows.
The company does not currently have a dedicated workaround for the issue, but users can uninstall KB5124010, which is the update responsible for the bug.
