Microsoft Copilot Adoption Doubles in Three Months

Microsoft's Copilot AI assistant has seen rapid adoption, with its paid seat count more than doubling in three months. As of June, Microsoft had over 30 million paid Copilot seats, up from around 20 million just before that. The company's CEO, Satya Nadella, noted that the number of customers with more than 50,000 seats climbed sevenfold year-over-year.

The deals behind these numbers are getting bigger, too. HSBC alone committed to 200,000 seats. Microsoft has a large base of paid Microsoft 365 commercial seats it can sell Copilot into, with over 450 million such seats as of December.

A financial analyst predicts that Microsoft will report at least 60 million paid Copilot seats by the end of June 2027, doubling the number in a year. This would require around 7.5 million net new seats per quarter, which is slower than the pace set in the recent quarter.
