Microsoft Denies Day One Game Pass Change, But Rumors Persist
Microsoft has not finalized any changes to Xbox Game Pass, despite rumors suggesting it will drop day one game releases next spring. The potential changes aim to improve margins and offer a lower price point for subscribers.
A leaked report claims that Microsoft will introduce two new Xbox Game Pass subscriptions: one with ads at $12.99/month and another without ads at $19.99 or $239.99 annually. Day one games would no longer be included in the latter option, and cloud streaming and family plan costs will be separate bolt-ons at $5.99/month each.
Online multiplayer might also become a separate charge, although details on this are unclear. The report suggests that Microsoft is looking to balance its bookkeeping with Game Pass, which has previously been a loss leader for the company.
