Microsoft Ditches Circana Over Poor Gaming Console Sales
Microsoft has stopped sharing its digital sales figures with Circana, a leading US analytics group. This decision comes after the company's poor performance in the gaming console market was publicly disclosed by Circana.
Circana's Mat Piscatella confirmed the news on Bluesky, stating that Microsoft is no longer a participating publisher for digital sales data. The reason behind this change is unclear, but it may be related to the 18 percent decline in Xbox console sales compared to July last year.
This move will make it difficult for Circana to estimate Microsoft's sales accurately, as its games, including Call of Duty, often top charts every month. Without access to raw data points, estimates and projections will become increasingly uncertain.
