The City of Atlanta and Microsoft are collaborating on a redevelopment project at the Quarry Yards parcel in Grove Park. The city will host a community celebration on September 12 to commemorate Microsoft's donation of 22.5 acres for 'community-focused development.'

Microsoft donated the land in November, which is part of its larger 90-acre holdings on Atlanta's Westside. The company purchased Quarry Yards in 2021 for $127 million and had initially planned a cutting-edge jobs hub campus with affordable housing and community amenities.

City officials emphasized that Microsoft's gift will help advance Mayor Andre Dickens' goal of preserving or building 20,000 affordable housing units by 2029. The partnership aims to create a space that meets the needs of the community while fostering growth and opportunity.
