Nvidia's DLSS 5 Revolutionizes Game Graphics with Photorealistic Images
Nvidia's latest DLSS 5 technology has been put to the test in NBA 2K27, and the results are promising. The real-time neural rendering (RTNR) feature uses AI models to enhance image quality in real-time, making game graphics more lifelike than ever before.
The key difference between DLSS 5 and previous versions is that it actively works to enhance images by inserting more realistic lighting and textures. This is achieved through a process similar to generative AI, where millions of real pictures are analyzed to create an enhanced image based on the data.
In testing, Nvidia's GeForce RTX 5090 graphics card was used to run NBA 2K27 with DLSS 5 enabled, and the results showed significant improvements in image quality. However, this came at a cost, as performance dropped slightly when using frame generation off or at lower multipliers.
NBA 2K27 is currently the only game that supports DLSS 5, but more titles are expected to follow suit in the coming months. Games like Resident Evil Requiem, EA Sports FC, Starfield, and Hogwarts Legacy have already been announced as future supporters of the technology.
