Microsoft Edge Users Ditch uBlock Origin for Brave Browser

Sean Endicott, a News Writer at Windows Central, recently switched from Microsoft Edge to Brave browser after uBlock Origin stopped working for him due to the impending end of Manifest Version 2 (MV2) extensions.

The reason for his switch was that he relied heavily on uBlock Origin's granular controls and ability to intercept requests to block ads. With MV3 extensions, ad blockers can only mask ads, not entirely remove them.

Endicott had considered switching browsers earlier but the end of uBlock Origin on Edge gave him a clean break. He initially looked at Brave because its makers have committed to keeping MV2 extensions alive.

After trying out Brave Shields, Endicott found them to be quite effective in blocking ads and speeding up site performance. He also appreciated that Brave allows him to block specific elements with a couple of clicks.
