Microsoft Edges Out Legacy Browser Extensions by 2027
Microsoft is phasing out support for Manifest V2 extensions in its Edge browser, starting with enterprises in January 2027. The company plans to complete the transition by late April of that year.
The change affects enterprise customers who use Manifest V2 extensions, which will become harder to use as Microsoft moves towards Manifest V3. Users will first see deprecation warnings for affected extensions on the Manage Extensions page and in the Edge Add-ons store.
Microsoft will eventually prevent users from installing Manifest V2 extensions, and once the transition finishes, those that still rely on them will stop working in Edge.
