Microsoft Emphasizes Human Control in AI Development
Microsoft India's president Puneet Chandok emphasized that Artificial Intelligence (AI) must serve humanity, with humans maintaining control over the technology. He made this assertion during an interview to highlight the company's approach to AI development in India.
The country has emerged as a key hub for AI growth, attracting significant investment from Microsoft, including a fresh USD 17.5 billion commitment over 2026-29. This brings the total pledged by the company to USD 20.5 billion, supporting cloud and AI infrastructure, skilling, and ongoing operations.
According to Chandok, AI is creating new roles such as AI engineers and agent orchestrators while shifting existing functions towards higher-value tasks. He emphasized that 'the work is changing, not ending,'
Microsoft advocates for responsible AI development, including an open, heterogeneous AI ecosystem, secure infrastructure, and adequate testing of AI systems. The company aims to ensure that technologies capable of changing the world are developed responsibly.
