Microsoft Engineer Kanu Priya Thrives with Growth Mindset and Company Culture

Kanu Priya, a software engineer at Microsoft Digital, has built a thriving career in IT with a growth mindset. Growing up in Nangal-Shama, a small village in Punjab, India, Priya didn't know of any young women who had pursued engineering as a career path.

However, her parents and teachers encouraged her to pursue her ambitions, and she worked hard to achieve them. With a background in Java and Python, Priya joined Microsoft nearly five years ago and learned the company's .NET and C# technical stack.

Priya's current work at Microsoft involves building AI-powered employee experiences, including an Employee Device Information agent that helps employees manage primary devices and correct inaccurate device information and assignments. The agent reduced 70% of manual effort for support teams and BPO organizations by automating work that previously required human intervention.

Priya's promotion in 2023 was an important career milestone, and she credits mentorship from Amit Raghuwanshi, a principal software engineering manager at Microsoft, as well as support from teammate Shreekantha Tarikere Indraiah. Priya's story is inspiring, particularly for young women from her community who may be interested in pursuing careers in technology.
