Microsoft Engineer's Layoff Sparks Debate Over Age, Personal Responsibilities
A Microsoft software engineer in Hyderabad was laid off from his job and sparked an online debate after sharing his account on Reddit.
The engineer, who had around three years of experience at Microsoft, claimed that his manager referred to his age and personal responsibilities while explaining why he was included in the workforce reduction.
The manager allegedly assumed that the engineer, being relatively young, had fewer personal responsibilities than other employees.
However, the engineer disputed this assumption, stating that he is the sole earning member of his family and supports his parents, contributes to his sister's education, and helps repay a loan taken by his father.
