Microsoft Expands Cloud Presence in India with Fourth Region Launch
Microsoft has expanded its presence in India's cloud computing market by launching its fourth cloud region in Hyderabad. This move is part of the company's $20.5 billion investment commitment in the country, aimed at expanding cloud capabilities and artificial intelligence infrastructure.
The new India South Central cloud region joins Microsoft's existing regions in Pune, Chennai, and Mumbai, making it the largest hyperscale cloud infrastructure presence in India.
According to Microsoft India and South Asia President Puneet Chandok, India is poised for significant growth in data center capacity and enterprise AI adoption. He noted that while India generates nearly 20% of the world's data, it accounts for only about 3% of global data center capacity.
