Microsoft Expands Cloud Presence in India with New Hyderabad Region
Microsoft has expanded its cloud presence in India with the launch of a fourth Indian cloud region. The new facility, located in Hyderabad, brings three availability zones together with Azure and Microsoft Foundry services, giving the company another base for enterprise workloads and AI deployment.
The region is part of Microsoft's broader India expansion, which includes a $20.5 billion investment commitment. However, the company has not disclosed the site's megawatt capacity or server count.
Microsoft's new Indian cloud region comes with a unique feature: zero-water cooling. This directly addresses a major local infrastructure constraint and allows for more efficient data processing.
The new region is expected to cater not only to India but also to other developing markets in South Asia. Early customers include Adani Group, Bajaj Finserv, HDFC Bank, and PB Pay.
