Microsoft Expands Cloud Presence with Fourth India Region
Microsoft has expanded its cloud presence in India by launching its fourth cloud region in Hyderabad. The new 'India South Central' region is part of the company's USD 20.5 billion commitment to India and will support Azure and AI services for enterprises.
The facility features a three-zone architecture designed to support resilience and enterprise workloads, helping organisations access cloud and AI infrastructure while meeting applicable data-residency and regulatory requirements.
Puneet Chandok, President of Microsoft India and South Asia, stated that the launch would strengthen India's role in the global digital economy. Adani Group, Bajaj Finserv, HDFC Bank, and PB Pay have signed up to use services associated with the new region.
The expansion is part of a broader effort to expand India's AI and cloud ecosystem, as the country seeks to drive demand for infrastructure across the data centre value chain. A Boston Consulting Group study estimates that India's data centre buildout could generate USD 140-200 billion in economic output through 2030.
