Microsoft has expanded the reach of its Dataverse platform, integrating it into more coding agents and automation tools where developers already work. Since July, Dataverse has been added to Copilot Cowork, additional coding agents, and the workflow automation platform n8n. This expansion ensures that business data remains accessible as developers use multiple tools throughout their workflow.
The Dataverse plugin in Copilot Cowork allows users to describe an app in plain language, and the platform then designs the tables, relationships, and sample data before building and publishing a working app. Every change requires approval, ensuring governance and security. Meanwhile, the integration with n8n provides a built-in Microsoft Dataverse node, simplifying the process of connecting apps, APIs, and AI agents into workflows without custom HTTP plumbing.
All coding agent integrations use the same open-source Dataverse skills, ensuring a consistent experience across platforms. These skills cover querying records, data modeling, solution lifecycle management, security roles, and environment administration. The plugin operates under a least-privilege model, ensuring that it cannot exceed the permissions of the signed-in user, and credentials are securely stored.
Microsoft emphasizes that Dataverse should be available wherever developers build, reducing the need to copy data elsewhere. The company invites feedback on which platforms should be supported next and encourages contributions directly on GitHub.
