Microsoft Expands Indian Cloud Presence with Hyderabad Region Launch
Microsoft has launched its new three-zone India South Central cloud region in Hyderabad, marking the company's fourth cloud region in the country. This expansion is part of Microsoft's broader $20.5 billion commitment to investing in India's growing market for cloud and AI infrastructure.
The new region is designed to support sovereign-cloud requirements and Indian data residency while using effectively zero water for cooling. This combination is significant, as it allows customers to maintain sensitive workloads within the country, reducing dependence on distant regions.
Microsoft has already partnered with several major Indian companies, including Adani Group, Bajaj Finserv, HDFC Bank, and PB Pay, which are participating in trials of the new region. The company is selling more than just raw computing power to customers; it's offering local availability, regulatory flexibility, and lower dependence on distant regions.
The market price of Microsoft shares has dropped to $496.905, sitting 15.28% below GuruFocus' intrinsic-value benchmark. Despite this, the company continues to pour capital into one of the world's fastest-growing markets for cloud and AI infrastructure.
