Microsoft Explains Why No AMD in Surface PCs

Microsoft has finally explained why it doesn't sell Surface PCs with AMD chips. In an interview with Windows Central, Brett Ostrum, a Surface CVP, revealed that Microsoft's limited portfolio is to blame.

Ostrum said the company 'loves working with AMD' but can only accommodate a few partners due to its limited scope. This explanation may not convince everyone, as it was previously possible for Microsoft to offer devices with both Intel and AMD chips.

The Surface Laptop 3 and 4 were the only models available with AMD chips before they were dropped from the lineup. Despite rumors of an upcoming Surface powered by AMD's Arm-based chip codenamed Sound Wave, there has been no sign of it yet.
