Microsoft Faces Class Action Lawsuit Over Alleged False Statements About Copilot Family

A class action lawsuit has been filed against Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) and certain of its officers for alleged violations of federal securities laws. The lawsuit seeks to recover damages on behalf of all persons and entities that purchased or otherwise acquired Microsoft securities between May 1, 2025, and January 28, 2026.

The complaint alleges that throughout the class period, defendants made false and/or misleading statements because they failed to disclose several significant issues with Microsoft's Copilot family of products. These problems included brand positioning, user experience, usage, data siloing, computational capacity, organizational, and interoperability issues.

The suit also claims that Microsoft's flagship proprietary AI model ranked poorly compared to competitors on benchmark tests. Furthermore, the company allegedly needed to increase its capital expenditures by billions of dollars and divert GPU and CPU capacity away from fulfilling demand for its profitable Azure services to improve the competitive positioning of its critical Copilot family of products.
