Microsoft Flight Simulator Brings Italy to Its Latest City Update
Microsoft Flight Simulator has released its latest City Update for Italy, which is free to download for owners of either version 2020 or 2024. The update brings nine new urban areas to the simulator, spread across northern and southern Italy, including cities like Bolzano, Udine, Trieste, and Genoa, as well as islands such as Sardinia and Sicily.
The update uses fresh aerial imagery, updated elevation data, and high-fidelity TIN surface texturing to rebuild the appearance of these areas from the air. The City Update series has previously focused on American cities, but this marks a return to European destinations.
Italy was included in the 2026 roadmap for Microsoft Flight Simulator earlier this year, with August penciled in as the release month. The update is available now and can be downloaded through the in-sim Marketplace after updating to the latest version of the simulator.
