Microsoft has released an update for Windows 11 that gives users more control over search results. The KB5120998 update allows users to opt out of Bing and Microsoft Store suggestions in search, a move seen as a positive step towards giving users more choice and control.

The change comes after Microsoft was forced to make similar changes in Europe. Tests have shown that excluding web and store results from searches can speed up search times, making it easier for users to find what they're looking for.

According to the release notes, the update includes improvements to Windows Search, including a simplified search home page and better indication of where search results come from.
