Microsoft Invests $1.7 Billion in Indonesia's Cloud and AI Infrastructure
Microsoft is set to invest $1.7 billion in Indonesia's cloud and artificial-intelligence infrastructure, as the country develops its national AI-governance framework.
The investment was discussed between Communications and Digital Minister Meutya Hafid and Microsoft Global Affairs President Lisa Monaco in New York on Wednesday.
Hafid emphasized that the investment should support technology and knowledge transfers, digital skills, and domestic industry capabilities in Indonesia.
The Indonesian government is also preparing a presidential regulation covering a national AI roadmap and AI ethics to provide regulatory certainty while supporting safe and responsible AI development.
