Microsoft Issues Emergency Update for Windows 11 Amid Ongoing Issues

Microsoft has released an emergency update for Windows 11, KB5129195, to address critical issues caused by the September 2026 Patch Tuesday update. The update is mandatory and includes fixes from previous releases, including the September update.

The update addresses a bug that broke audio on some PCs, as well as a security issue with an 'elevation of privilege' vulnerability. It also fixes a Remote Desktop Services (RDS) issue that caused instability and connection failures in affected environments.

However, Microsoft has confirmed that the update does not fix issues related to AMD GPU errors or audio problems on PCs where multichannel audio features stopped working after the September 2026 Update.

The update is available for Windows 11 versions 25H2 and 24H2 and can be downloaded automatically. It advances Windows 11 25H2 to Build 26200.9457 and version 24H2 to Build 26100.9457.
