Microsoft has launched Azure Payment HSM v2 in public preview, a cloud-based payment security platform designed for financial institutions and payment service providers. The service combines Marvell LiquidSecurity hardware security modules, Utimaco Atalla Payments Module software, and Microsoft Azure infrastructure to provide hardware-backed security for payment transactions and cryptographic key management.

The platform meets PCI security and compliance requirements, supporting card issuance, PIN translation, mobile payments, and key management functions. It operates as a managed service, eliminating the need for customers to deploy or maintain physical HSM infrastructure.

Soumya Subramanian, vice president of Cloud Security Engineering at Microsoft, said that the new solution removes the operational burden of managing payment-specific HSMs, allowing customers to focus on innovation. The platform targets organizations operating in regulated payment environments and is available as a public preview in Western U.S. and Western Europe regions.
