A Microsoft design manager was killed in an ambush in Jacksonville Beach, Florida, over four years ago. The alleged mastermind behind the plot is set to face trial on Monday, August 17.

Jared Bridegan, 33, was shot repeatedly outside his vehicle while his 2-year-old child was strapped in a car seat. Investigators claim that a tire was placed in the road as part of a murder-for-hire scheme involving his ex-wife and her current husband.

Mario Fernandez Saldana, 38, is charged with first-degree murder in Duval County court, while Bridegan's former wife Shanna Gardner, 39, faces murder charges. Her trial is scheduled for September.

The alleged gunman, Henry Tenon, had pleaded guilty to second-degree murder and agreed to testify against Fernandez Saldana. However, he withdrew his plea earlier this year and will get his own trial in 2027.
