Microsoft Office and Teams Chief Ryan Roslansky Departs After 18 Years
Microsoft's Office and Teams chief Ryan Roslansky is leaving the company after nearly 18 years. He was CEO of LinkedIn, which he joined in 2009 as Jeff Weiner's first hire.
Roslansky became head of Office in the past year, during which his team worked to unify product, engineering, and design foundations for the next stage of development, according to Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella. The leader noted that Roslansky's team has put the organization in a strong position.
Roslansky called leaving the company difficult due to having to move back to Microsoft's headquarters in Redmond from his family's home in the San Francisco Bay Area. He also expressed concerns about the impact of artificial intelligence on work, warning that AI-generated documents could create a monotonous stream of texts for workers.
Following Roslansky's departure, teams working on Office and Microsoft Teams will report to Charles Lamanna within the Copilot organization. Dan Shapero will continue as CEO of LinkedIn after surpassing 1 billion members under Roslanksky's leadership, with the company's business nearly tripling.
