Microsoft Officially Recognizes Rust as Tier-1 Language
Microsoft has formally recognized Rust as one of its Tier-1 programming languages, giving it first-class development tooling and workflows within the company.
Rust's memory safety features are a key component in Microsoft's security strategy, and the company has made significant investments in Rust's Windows tooling and compilers that work as part of its build platform.
Microsoft is working to integrate Rust with its existing Visual C++ (MSVC) platform, allowing for seamless interoperability between languages. This will enable Rust to be used to build low-level Windows services, from drivers to the kernel itself.
A new code generation tool, rustc_codegen_utc, has been developed to generate native code for Rust's compiler, rustc. This tool is currently only available internally but is expected to be released publicly in the future.
