Microsoft Outlook Crashes: Thousands of Users Affected by Authentication Issue

Microsoft Outlook is experiencing technical difficulties on Monday afternoon, affecting thousands of users worldwide. The issue has been reported by Downdetector, which tracks user reports for app outages. According to the platform, tens of thousands of reports have been submitted as of 3:00 p.m. ET.

The company has confirmed the outage and posted an update on its Microsoft 365 Status X account. The statement explains that the issue is caused by a problem with an authentication component and that a remediation strategy is being implemented to resolve the issue.

As of now, 38% of users are reporting issues receiving messages in Outlook, while 24% report problems with the app itself and 21% with logging in. The affected services include Microsoft Teams, Microsoft Store, Microsoft Azure, and Microsoft 365.
