Microsoft Overhauls Copilot App With New AI-Powered Features

Microsoft has revamped its Copilot app with three new pieces to enhance productivity and streamline work. The redesigned Copilot now includes Code, a natural-language app builder that uses GitHub's technology; Autopilot, an AI agent that works in the background with its own identity and permissions; and Home, a starting screen that merges Chat, Cowork, and Office.

Code allows users to build apps, dashboards, and automations from plain-language prompts. It will be available in early access at the end of the month, with Microsoft 365 Premium and Pro subscribers able to preview it later this year.

Autopilot is a revamp of the Scout agent introduced in June. The agent can monitor channels, follow up on threads, run recurring work, and pick projects back up days later without a new prompt. IT teams govern Autopilot through Microsoft's Agent 365 control plane.
