Microsoft Preserves Shareholder Proposal Rights Amid SEC Rule Change Concerns
The Securities and Exchange Commission's (SEC) proposed rule change has sparked concern among shareholder activists. To preserve their rights, NLPC submitted proposals to companies like Procter & Gamble and Microsoft.
Mozilla Corporation's Paul Chesser, the director of the Corporate Integrity Project at the National Legal and Policy Center, negotiated an agreement with Microsoft that ensures shareholder proposal regulation remains intact until 2027.
Under this agreement, Microsoft will continue to consider shareholder proposals at its annual meetings for the next six years. This move comes in response to the SEC's proposed rule change, which critics argue would sideline individual investors and undermine their voice in corporate governance.
