Microsoft Probes Gaming Issues Linked to Recent Windows Updates

Microsoft is investigating reports of gaming issues following its August Windows updates. The issue affects some games, including ARC Raiders and MARVEL Tōkon: Fighting Souls, which may become unresponsive or crash on affected devices running Windows 11.

The symptoms experienced by users include freezing, closing without notice, 'EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION' errors, and unexpected system restarts. The issue was reported after the release of Windows updates on August 11, 2026 (KB5121003).

Microsoft received reports of issues involving inability to run games as expected following the KB5121003 update, which was released last week as part of the August 2026 Patch Tuesday with Secure Boot updates and File Explorer and Windows Search improvements.
