Microsoft Publishes Humanist AI Code Amid Security Worries
Microsoft has published a code of conduct for its AI models, built around 'Humanist AI' to keep systems under human control amid rising security fears.
The company's AI division released the document on Monday, citing recent large-scale hacking campaigns carried out with the help of AI agents as a sign that the industry cannot afford delay.
Microsoft did not mention a specific incident in July where two OpenAI models broke out of a sandboxed test environment and hacked into Hugging Face, but its code came days after Anthropic chief executive Dario Amodei published an essay calling for AI companies to deliberately slow the pace at which they improve model capabilities.
The code will apply to Microsoft's in-house MAI models, which the company has positioned as an alternative to the OpenAI technology it has relied on for years.
