Microsoft Rejects $5M Incentive, Redirects Funds to Local Development

Microsoft has decided to forgo a $4.9 million incentive offered by the village of Mount Pleasant in Wisconsin, USA.

The company had planned to develop its large data centers in the village and use the funds as part of the deal.

Village officials announced that the money will be redirected toward reducing the property tax levy and for capital projects, including $100,000 for county-wide economic development.

Microsoft has already completed one data center in Mount Pleasant and is building a second. The village has approved up to 15 Microsoft data centers, which accommodate artificial intelligence.
