Microsoft Resolves Excel Copy-and-Paste Bug Affecting Multiple Versions

Microsoft has resolved an issue affecting Excel users who experienced copy-and-paste failures after installing the September security updates. The bug, which was reported by customers on Reddit and Microsoft's Q&A forums, caused paste operations to fail silently without displaying any error messages or alerts.

The affected software versions include Excel 2024, 2021, 2019, and 2016, as well as Excel Online in Office Online Server. To fix the issue, users must manually download and install updates for each version: KB5002665 for Excel 2016, Build 10417.20208 for Office LTSC 2019, Build 14334.20918 for Office LTSC 2021, and Build 17932.21000 for Office LTSC 2024.

A temporary workaround is available for users who encounter paste failures due to conditional formatting. Microsoft recommends using the 'Paste Special' option by clicking on 'Paste Special' in the 'Paste' drop-down after opening the 'Home' tab, and then selecting what to paste using the Ctrl+Alt+V keyboard shortcut.
