Microsoft Reveals AI Transformation Blueprint in Frontier Playbook
Microsoft has released its Frontier Playbook, a 44-page guide detailing its own AI transformation journey. The company believes this is crucial for organizations to generate real value from AI and become what it calls a 'Frontier Firm'. This concept refers to businesses that have decided digital labor is as critical to the business model as human labor.
The Frontier Playbook includes five core elements Microsoft says are necessary for an enterprise AI transformation. It also provides three 'recipes' designed to help organizations make their own successful AI transformation.
Katy George, Microsoft's corporate vice president for AI and work transformation, said the guide is not just for CEOs but for everyone in the organization. She emphasized that transforming a business with AI requires massive change in how people work, behave, and even identify professionally.
The company claims it has successfully become a Frontier Firm itself and is now sharing its learnings to help others achieve this status. George acknowledged that some of the lessons may not be new, but what sets Microsoft's guide apart is the inclusion of execution examples from within the company.
