Microsoft Set to Overtake Apple in Value by 2027
Microsoft (NASDAQ:MSFT) is poised to surpass Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) in market value by the end of 2027, according to a recent analysis. While Apple currently leads with a $4.9 trillion market cap compared to Microsoft's $3.9 trillion, the latter's strong growth prospects in artificial intelligence (AI) and more attractive valuation could reverse this trend.
The analysis highlights Microsoft's robust performance in AI-related revenue, particularly from Microsoft 365 Office software. The company's Microsoft 365 Copilot reached 30 million paid seats in its latest quarter, indicating significant growth potential. Additionally, Microsoft 365 consumer cloud revenue grew by 24%, while commercial cloud revenue increased by 14%, complementing Azure's impressive 43% growth rate.
In contrast, Apple's AI strategy appears less certain, and its higher valuation at 38 times earnings makes it a riskier investment. Microsoft, trading at 29 times its trailing profits, offers a more compelling case for investors, especially as AI-related revenue is expected to drive further growth.
By the end of 2027, Microsoft is predicted to become the more valuable tech company, largely due to its strong AI initiatives and lower valuation compared to Apple's uncertain future growth.
