Microsoft Set to Surpass Apple in Value by 2027
Apple and Microsoft have long been tech giants, but their current market valuations show a significant gap. Apple stands at around $4.9 trillion, while Microsoft lags behind at $3.9 trillion. Despite Microsoft's recent stock surge following strong quarterly results, the market seems more bullish on Apple.
Microsoft's potential in artificial intelligence (AI) might be underestimated. While its cloud computing service, Azure, has been the focal point with a 43% growth rate, other areas like Microsoft 365 Office software are also seeing rapid revenue growth. The company's Microsoft 365 Copilot recently hit 30 million paid seats, indicating strong momentum in AI integration.
In the June quarter, Microsoft reported double-digit revenue growth across multiple product lines, including a 24% rise in Microsoft 365 consumer cloud revenue and a 14% increase in commercial cloud revenue. These early-stage AI opportunities suggest Microsoft's stock could rise significantly in the near future.
In contrast, Apple's AI strategy appears less defined, and its valuation at 38 times earnings is considered rich. With a new CEO and uncertainty around future growth, Apple may face a pullback. By the end of 2027, Microsoft is predicted to surpass Apple in market value.
