Microsoft Sets Launch Date for Surface Laptop Ultra and RTX Spark Processor
Microsoft has set an official launch date for its Surface Laptop Ultra and RTX Spark processor. The event will take place on October 7, 2026, at 10 AM PT / 1 PM ET / 10:30 PM IST in San Francisco.
The Surface Laptop Ultra features the NVIDIA RTX Spark chip with 20 Arm CPU cores, up to 128GB of LPDDR5X RAM, and an RTX 5070-level GPU. This unified memory architecture allows applications to utilize the RAM as system memory or VRAM as needed, making it ideal for running large language models.
NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang will likely showcase the performance capabilities of the RTX Spark chip during the event. Microsoft's top configuration for the Surface Laptop Ultra can run LLMs with tens of billions of parameters locally without connecting to the internet.
