The agreement is expected to be finalized within 30-45 days, according to the US District Court for the District of Delaware. A joint status report filed by the parties on October 2, 2026, stated they also requested a 60-day deadline for finalizing the settlement.
Cerence Inc., which was spun off from Nuance in 2019, initially brought the suit against Microsoft in May 2025, alleging that the company continued to use the software after their license had expired. The terms of the settlement were not disclosed in the filing.
