Microsoft's latest security update has broken records with an unprecedented number of vulnerabilities fixed. The September patch addresses a staggering 972 vulnerabilities, with a significant 112 meeting the high critical-severity threshold.

This marks a notable increase from just two months ago, when Microsoft patched a record 570 vulnerabilities. Last month saw an even higher number, with 620 patches released.

The surge in vulnerability fixes is largely attributed to AI-powered vulnerability finding. The industry is taking the threat seriously, with companies like Google and Amazon Web Services also publishing record numbers of patches in their software.

Experts predict that the number of vulnerabilities will continue to rise as AIs become more effective at identifying weaknesses in software. However, this trend may eventually reverse as the AIs exhaust their options.
