Microsoft Solidifies Position as Top Data Centre Company
Microsoft has solidified its position as one of the top data centre companies in the world, ranking number two on the Top 250 Data Centre Companies list for 2026. The company operates a vast network of over 500 data centres across 34 countries, supporting more than 80 Azure regions and delivering cloud and AI services at scale.
Microsoft's global footprint is not only extensive but also environmentally conscious. The company has made significant strides in sustainability by matching 100% of its annual electricity consumption with renewable energy and replenishing more water globally than it withdrew for the first time.
The company's commitment to clean energy is evident in its 40-gigawatt contracted renewable supply across 26 countries, with 19 gigawatts already online. This includes a 20-year agreement with Constellation Energy to restart the Crane Clean Energy Center nuclear plant in Pennsylvania.
