Microsoft Stock Surges on AI-Powered Copilot Upgrade
Microsoft's stock price surged on Friday after the company unveiled new artificial intelligence capabilities for its redesigned Copilot app. The technology giant's AI tools are designed to boost workplace productivity by integrating Chat and Cowork, an agentic AI-powered tool that can execute multi-step tasks.
The updated Copilot app will also feature a new starting point called Home, which includes the full functionality of Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Additionally, users will have access to intuitive, natural language coding tools, making it easier for them to create code without extensive programming knowledge.
Microsoft is also introducing personal agent-like functionality through its Autopilot feature, which analysts believe will help drive revenue growth in the coming years. Stifel analyst Brad Reback upgraded his rating on Microsoft's stock from hold to buy and raised his share price forecast from $530 to $575, implying potential gains of 11% for investors.
