Microsoft Surges by $450 Billion on Record Market Value Gain
Microsoft's market value surged by about $450 billion on July 30, making it the largest one-day gain in history. This surpassed Nvidia's previous record of $441 billion set on April 9, 2025.
The company's shares rose 15.5% to $451.10 after a strong fiscal fourth-quarter report that showed 18% revenue growth and guidance for Azure (Microsoft's cloud computing platform) to grow about 45% in constant currency in the fiscal first quarter.
Although Microsoft is still trading around 12% below its 52-week high of $553.72, history suggests that a 'Double Down' signal can be a rare but profitable indicator.
A review of six similar instances since February 2022 shows that the size of the day itself told investors almost nothing about the next two quarters, but rather whether the growth causing the pop continued.
