Microsoft Tackles Payment Compliance Burdens with Cloud-Scale Security Platform
Microsoft has launched Azure Payment HSM v2, a cloud-scale platform designed to secure payment transactions for financial institutions. The service combines Marvell's LiquidSecurity hardware with Utimaco's Atalla Payments Module and Microsoft's Azure cloud infrastructure.
The new platform offers a compliant and scalable alternative to on-site infrastructure, which can be costly and difficult to manage. Soumya Subramanian, Vice President of Cloud Security Engineering at Microsoft, says the service removes the operational burden of managing payment specific HSMs, allowing customers to focus on innovation.
Azure Payment HSM v2 will initially be available in Western U.S. and Western Europe as a public preview. The platform uses Marvell's hardware security modules designed for dense, multi-tenant environments, delivering high transaction throughput and hardware-based key protection.
