Microsoft Taps NVIDIA for Windows AI Breakthrough
Microsoft is gearing up for its biggest Windows event in years on October 7 in San Francisco. The high-profile gathering will bring together industry heavyweights, featuring keynotes by Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella and NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang.
The event will focus on the next era of local AI in personal computing, showcasing developments across Windows software, NVIDIA's hardware platforms, Surface devices, and the broader PC ecosystem. One of the main highlights will be the Surface Laptop Ultra, a high-performance machine designed to take on the MacBook Pro.
The device is powered by a custom NVIDIA RTX Spark SoC, combining an NVIDIA Blackwell GPU with up to 128GB of RAM and native CUDA support. This pairing allows the laptop to run complex AI models locally, with Microsoft claiming it can handle up to 120 billion parameters completely locally.
