Microsoft Taps OpenAI for Autonomous AI Workers in Enterprise
Microsoft has partnered with OpenAI to bring its new autonomous AI workers, called 'Dots', under Microsoft's enterprise security and governance stack. This move will allow companies to manage Dots, which can operate across corporate systems without constant prompting.
The Dots agents are powered by GPT-6 Astra and have their own cloud computers, allowing them to connect to over 4,000 apps and work on multiple projects simultaneously. For example, a developer Dot can monitor customer feedback, build and test fixes, and return completed pull requests for review.
Microsoft is working with OpenAI to integrate the specialist Dots agents with its Agent 365 control plane, which uses Entra for identity and access management, Defender for security, and Purview for data governance. This integration will enable companies to manage Dots through Microsoft's existing enterprise tools.
