Microsoft Targets $5 Trillion Market Value by 2029 on Modest Growth
Microsoft's market value is estimated to be around $3.57 trillion. To reach the predicted target of $5 trillion by the end of 2029, the company needs to see a 40% increase in its current worth.
This growth would translate to an annual rate of about 10%, which may seem modest compared to Microsoft's recent performance. In fiscal 2026, the company grew revenue by 18% to $331.8 billion and net income by 31% to $133.7 billion.
There are two possible paths for Microsoft to reach its target: either through earnings growth or a rise in the price-to-earnings ratio. The first option requires the company to maintain an average annual earnings growth of around 10%, which is less than half of the pace it achieved last fiscal year.
The market already expects some level of growth, with analysts predicting adjusted earnings-per-share growth of about 14% over the coming year. This would allow Microsoft to reach $5 trillion without any change in its price-to-earnings ratio.
