Microsoft Tees Up for Major Windows Event: Local AI Takes Center Stage
Microsoft has announced its first major Windows event in two years, scheduled for October 7, 2026. The event will focus on 'how local AI will shape the next chapter of the PC,' with CEO Satya Nadella and Windows and Surface chief Pavan Davuluri among those confirmed to attend.
The company is expected to provide more information about the Surface Laptop Ultra, which was unveiled in May 2026. The laptop features a design that looks classy and minimal, yet packs in a ton of ports and impressive cooling. It runs on the NVIDIA RTX Spark chip, which has been optimized by Microsoft for local AI capabilities.
NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang will also be attending the event, and it is likely that we will hear more about the PC ecosystem built around local AI. Other laptop makers, including Dell and Lenovo, have already announced their own RTX Spark devices, but details on their performance are still scarce.
