Microsoft to Pump Over $10 Billion into Gulf Region by 2030
Microsoft has announced plans to invest over $10 billion in the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Kuwait between now and 2030. The investment will be used to expand the company's cloud services and artificial intelligence infrastructure.
According to Microsoft's vice chairman and president, Brad Smith, the investments are a continuation of the company's commitment to building infrastructure in the region. He noted that the investments were planned before the outbreak of the Iran-related war and have been augmented since then.
The Gulf countries have been pouring large sums into the artificial intelligence sector as part of their efforts to diversify their economies and reduce dependence on oil and gas. Microsoft is also investing in maritime and land-based communications infrastructure, aiming to expand digital connectivity capabilities in the region by 2030.
