Microsoft Unifies AI Platform with Home, Code, and Autopilot Features

Microsoft is giving its Copilot AI platform a major overhaul, integrating four key features into a unified app. The update brings together Home, Code, and Autopilot, which provide quick assistance, software creation, and persistent agents. This will enable users to perform various tasks, from drafting documents to creating apps, all within the same interface.

Home is a revamped version of Copilot that combines Chat and Cowork, allowing users to access recent activity, suggestions, and work in progress. It also embeds Microsoft Office tools like Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Home will begin rolling out to the Frontier program this month, with wider access expected soon.

Code is a new feature that uses GitHub Copilot's technology to turn natural-language descriptions into apps, desktop widgets, and other digital products. It runs in a sandbox and can host apps within an organization's tenant, backed by Microsoft IQ work context and synced plugins.

Autopilot is a proactive agent built for enterprises, which can monitor channels, follow up on threads, carry out recurring work, and resume projects days later. It has its own identity, memory, computer, and workspace, and can appear across Teams, Outlook, chats, channels, and documents subject to organizational permissions.

Microsoft is also extending Copilot's enterprise context and cost controls through Fabric IQ, which brings over 20 million Power BI semantic models into Chat and Cowork. Code support will be added through the Frontier program. Everyday use of Copilot in Teams will enter private preview by the end of this month.
